That's What Friends Are For

I want to thank everyone that either emailed me or left a comment on my Blog. I deeply appreciate the kindness and support that you have given me :o) It means so much. I know most of you I have never met, but just knowing there are still kind people in this cruel world is like a breath of fresh air.

To me, friends appear in many ways. You don't have to actually meet someone in person in order to call them a friend. In the 'older' days, I did a lot of writing to pen pals all over the world. Then email came into play :o( Not that I don't like emails but there is nothing more comforting than seeing a special letter sitting in your mailbox at the end of a hard day ;o)

I have never met any of my pen pals or online friends. I would definitely love to though! I have talked to some of them on the phone. These women are just as sweet to talk to as they are in their emails :o) I think it would be a riot to meet these friends some day. It just amazes me how you can reach out to someone you have never meet before and instantly have a connection.

I was never one for making friends easily. In person anyway. The first impression people get of me is "Oh, she's a b*&$#." I can't tell you how many times people will tell me that once they get to know me better. In reality, I'm shy. I'm also guarded but that's my protection mechanism from years of learning the hard way. I'm kind of curious to know what friends think of me once they get to know the 'real' me ;o) LOL!

Friends come and go. Life happens and it's out of our control. Some relationships can stand the test of time though but not all. Either way, there is always something that you will carry forward with you from each of those friendships. They are almost like stepping stones there to guide you through the path of life.

Someone sent this to me in an email once -

I just love it! Every time I look at it, it makes me smile and it reminds me that I have friends out there that care :o)

Friendship is the most valuable gift one can give ,I have had this saying on my blog all along and it's often in my sig on message boards .
sometimes it's better not to know what friends really think ;O) some of us have a very dry warped sense of humour

I have been fortunate to have met several fellow stitching bloggers over the past couple of years. Most of the time, it has been at stitching retreats or through EGA. It is definitely very cool :)

I also consider myself to be rather shy when I first meet people. But once I get to know them...look out...I won't shut up LOL :)

I'm surprised that I still have friends that have endured my "warped" sense of humor.
I was once so shy that I didn't know how to make friends that were girls. I've learned that I can share my oppinion and not be scared of being disliked... maybe too much. I need to be careful not to be too oppinionated, and pick and choose what to say and when;) It's not easy for sure. The written word is hard to express in the way one means it to be.

I value our friendship, and I LOVE that picture.

Cathey, it sounds like you've been hurt by a 'friend' in the past, hence your hesitation to be open and vulnerable That's me to a T...but each day is a new opportunity to make great memories.

I still try to believe to the depths of my soul that people are good & genuine. Most times that holds true. I try not to dwell on the ones that go against the grain and disappoint me.

Follow those stepping stones and go forward with a smile on your face and hope in your heart!

Well, my friend, when we do meet face to face evidently we're both going to look like b*tches since that's typically what people think of me :) Like you I'm shy and my insecurities arise whenever I meet someone new - so I tend to be quiet. Shocking I know. LOL

*hugs* :D

I'm just catching up on blog reading tonight. I'm sorry to hear about your tooth. I do hope things get straightened out soon/quickly.

You sound so much like me. I'm very quite and shy when I first meet people. I'm affraid that no one will like me so I try to stay quite and out of the way. {{HUGS}}and I guess i'm just affraid of getting hurt again.

Sorry didn't mean to go on about me there. *blushing*

You have lots of friends out there who care!

I don't think you're alone in being shy, that's for sure. I know that I can come across as aloof in person and it all comes down to nerves/shyness. I'd love to be more outgoing!

I know what you mean about friends. My nature is very untrusting although I will be friendly just it's hard to let people know me. I think a lot of us are like that. That's one reason why we blog. I tell more in my blogs than I do in person! I love that picture of the two cats. That is just darling!

I agree a thousand percent, Cathey. And I have always been thought off like you at first sight. For the same reasons. Do you think cross stitch appeals to our kind particularly?
I've just read all the posts I have missed and I feel I am a very bad sort of friend really... I should've been there.
I am sending you lots and lots of happy thoughts and trying also to gather positive fluid to send your way. I hope things get better very soon for you two.
Take care,
Lili
