Second Finish For 2010

Are you shocked? You saw my list of goals so you know I have a bit of a road ahead of me. Might as well break away fast from the starting gate ;o)

This is the 2008 Snowman freebie from The Prairie Schooler -

Photobucket

Can you see a theme going on here? LOL! I'm smitten with snowmen :o)

Okay, I'm going to shock you even further because I actually finished finished him into an ornament! What do you think -

Photobucket

Believe it or not but I didn't have any pinking shears in my box of tools so I had to venture out and find some. Luckily Wal-Mart had them at a decent price.

This is my first time using the felt as a backing so I'm pleased. I'm not sure if I should have had more felt showing or not. DH said no, that it was fine. The next time I attempt this finish, I'm going to use more batting though because he looks kind of flat to me.

So I have another piece completed and it counts as one ornament off my list. At this rate, I might have all twelve stitched up AND finished for our tree next year ;o)

As you can see, Sabrina has won the poll! I've pulled all the DMC threads and I'm just waiting for the beads, specialty threads and fabric. I do have one more question though...I do like her on the Natural Light linen that is suggested but I pictured her on a light grey. I have a piece of Pearl Grey linen but I'm not too sure about it. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as fabric colour goes? I tried a gif of Sabrina (someone sent it to me) on the Pattern Viewer but she won't show up :o( Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Double Trouble

Well it appears that Duncan is experiencing a better social life than I am. To be honest, that's probably not too hard right now... Since DH and I have been taking him on walks, he's met at least a half dozen other dogs. Some he'll ignore, others he'll sniff but there's one lady that he's quite enamoured with :o) I haven't seen Duncan this gaga since his crush on Calamity Jane (a Boxer). This little lady is an Airedale Terrier but I don't know her name. Each time they meet, they just have to greet each other and from what we can see, she's just as taken with Duncan.

On the weekend, Duncan finally got to meet one of his kind. There's another Australian Cattle Dog in our area and he's a red one too! Although he is smaller than Duncan, he's got all the telltale marks of a Cattle Dog. It was funny talking to his owners because we got to compare notes and they both do the exact same things :o) Too funny. They couldn't get over how big and muscular Duncan was. I'm not sure if he's big for his breed but he is a sturdy fellow and if you saw him running at you straight on, I can guarantee you'd be gunning it in the opposite direction. LOL!

Last Thursday, DH and I went to the big city. While we were there, Duncan went to the groomers :o) He didn't seem too upset when we picked him up so it must have been a good experience for him. He's now super clean and smelling good! We've moved him into the main house and bought him a huge doggie bed at Costco. It smells like cedar and it's actually nice enough that I want to curl up in it! So far, so good with this new move and Duncan is extremely happy to be around us full-time now :o)

I finally completed my Chickadee!

Photobucket

One bird down and three more to go to finish my Birds & Berries by The Prairie Schooler. I love the colors. I wasn't too sure at first but now that the greens and reds are in there, I've warmed up to it. I think I'm going to go upwards and stitch the top bird next (a Nuthatch possibly?).

Before that, I want to stitch up a little ornament first. I started it yesterday and it shouldn't take too long to complete. I'm not going to tell you what it is though. Gotta keep some things secret you know ;o)

Only two more days until...

Photobucket

There will be games, prizes and lots of fun. Hope to see you there!

Happy Thanksgiving Canada!

Photobucket

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day, stuffing themselves with turkey and pumpkin pie :o) DH popped a small turkey in the oven yesterday and it filled the house with wonderful smells. But alas, no pumpkin pie for the Pumpkin :o( I think I might have to get one at the grocery store this week to satisfy that craving. It won't compare to homemade but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. LOL! I did suggest going to Tim Horton's for one of their pumpkin spice donuts but that didn't go over well ;o)

After all the clean up (seriously, how do our mother's do it????), we drove to our nearby sand beach and took Duncan for a walk. It was so nice with the sun setting, the waves rolling in and not another human being in sight. DH got to meet the local fox cub. He's grown so much and looks really healthy. He's not that afraid of humans, which concerns me. This was a picture of him that I took in early August -

Photobucket

A few of you inquired about when I would show another picture of Birds & Berries so here is an updated picture -

Photobucket

I have been devoting my time to it and I'm pretty pleased with the progress. I find it much more interesting now that the greens and red/pinks are being added. I know I'm getting ahead of myself but I find myself debating whether to start the next bird on top or bottom. Decisions, decisions ;o)

I see that I have quite a few new Stalkers! I want to welcome you to the Pumpkin Patch :o) Please feel free to leave comments. I hope you'll stick around for Pumpkin Day because that will be coming up real soon and boy, did I ever go crazy with pumpkins this year! LOL!

Odds & Snausages?

The puppies were born! Last night, L had to take momma to the vet to deliver the babies. The first baby was breech and the second had its front legs in the wrong position. Poor momma had a very hard delivery but everyone is okay :o) There are two males (one red and one piebald) and three females (two reds and one piebald). I got to see pictures of them already and they're just butterballs. L said I could come over sometime next week. I can't wait.

This past week, I did a bit of finishing. Do you remember the Stitch To Win (by The Prairie Schooler) that I stitched? Well, I found some fabric that I think goes very well with it. I made it into a pinkeep/ornament and it's on the fabric that I used for the back of it -

Photobucket

Of course I couldn't find any breast cancer fabric to match but I'm happy with this compromise. What do you think? And here I have it pictured with my new pumpkin jar that I bought -

Photobucket

Pumpkins are popping up everywhere because DH bought me this light -

Photobucket

I luv it :o)

On Monday, DH and I went to Lunenburg and I found a shop there that is going to carry my pictures :o) She was very impressed with them and took 15. It's on a consignment basis but at least I have my work out there. I did get some disheartening news last night though :o( I had applied to get into a craft co-op but since they only had one spot (I didn't know this), I didn't get in. I am doing some research about opening my own shop online so we'll see what happens.

Tomorrow I'm driving to the big city to meet up with DH. He's been there training and I guess he's got a really nice suite so I'm going to be staying there for a few days :o) I figure I might as well take the opportunity to relax. I've got my stitching already packed and I'll be bringing the computer as well. I'll also be driving to Moncton and back on Sunday so I can celebrate my grandmother's birthday :o) Unfortunately travel is not as easy as it was before.

Anyway, please remember to enter your name in my Blogoversary/50,000 Hits giveaway! Just scroll down a little bit and you'll find all the details there. And remember, I'll be drawing the names and announcing the winners on the 29th :o)

Btw, check out Tammy's Blogoversary drawing that she's going to have! There are some awesome prizes there :o)

Seventh Finish For 2009

Sorry, it's not Birds & Berries! I was bad and started another project. This was a small one so I figured it was okay ;o) Here is Stitch To Win by The Prairie Schooler -

Photobucket

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I stitched mine on 28 count Waterlily Jobelan. I thought the white was too stark and once I pulled the floss colors, I knew immediately what color fabric I was going to use.

I want to finish this as a little ornament and I thought I had some matching fabric for the back but it's too bright :o( I'll either have to dig a little further in my fabric stash or go see what I can find. Ideally I wanted fabric with the breast cancer ribbon on it but I may have to change my mind in order for things to work out.

So...if you check out my Goals For 2009, I only have TWO projects left to complete and then I have achieved my goal by 100%!!!! Since there are only two ornament sized pieces left, I know I can do it ;o)

Today I had a rotten day because I had to go see the dentist :o( I have to admit though that Dr. R is awesome and I'm really lucky to have gotten in with him but I still HATE going and I still HATE the needle. Okay, I got THREE needles. To top that off, some of the work he did was quite deep and he warned me I was going to be sore when the freezing came out. Great! I'm going to be popping pain killers for the rest of the afternoon :o( How's that for whining? LOL!

Take a look at Sharon's Blog and see who was in the neighbourhood for dinner ;o)

MVP

MVP...usually what's associated with Most Valuable Player but I like to refer to it as Most Valuable Patient :o) In this case though, I'm also referring to my Mitral Valve Prolapse. Early yesterday morning, DH and I drove to the Big "Town" where I had my Echocardiogram. My new Cardiologist, Dr. C, wanted to check up on my heart since it hasn't been done for a number of years. He was hoping this test would be good enough so that I didn't have to swallow that damn camera again >:o(

The results came back positive in that I'm still in the "moderate" rage (the rating system ranges within low, moderate or high) and my heart is working alright even though it's got a bum valve ;o) I got to do the usual fun stuff like watch my valve on screen and then seeing how much blood got regurgitated back. The woman doing the test was telling me that things have come a long way since I was diagnosed back in 2005. If I was rated a high moderate at this point, my valve could be repaired. That works for me! I'll take repair over replace any day :o)

When we returned home, we picked up the mail and I was so excited because there was a package there for me. It was my birthday order from SNT -

Photobucket

Ahhhhh... It was pure bliss going through and touching my new stash. It's been a long time since I've seen a decent haul. The Crossed Wings fabric is just gorgeous! Expensive but gorgeous! Thank you girls for making this happen :o)

I've been a little bad and started a new project about a week ago :oS I really have to examine my head again and see just how many holes I have in there... This is my start of Birds & Berries by The Prairie Schooler -

Photobucket

It looks a little bland right now but I hope once I get the leaves and berries put on there, it will spruce things up a bit.

That leaflet contains four bird patterns and I'm going to stitch them one on top of the other. I hope it will look good when complete.

One last thing before I go, check out Jolene's current giveaway! Now who doesn't like Jane Austen? Good luck!

Eighth Finish For 2008

I can't believe that I pulled off another finish in one month :o) Woohoo! I was doing a little happy dance last night when I finished-finished my finish. I really love this one and I knew I was going to stitch it when I found the material for the backing. The two were just perfect for each other.

Here is Night Owl by The Prairie Schooler -

Photobucket

Don't those eyes just give you the creeps? LOL! I used the recommended fabric and threads except that I switched 3371 for 310 so it would match the fabric. The material I used for the back is the one in the pictures. Isn't it cool?

Photobucket

I made this little guy into a pinkeep -

Photobucket

Do you know how hard it is to find black headed pins???? Luckily I didn't need too many. And I'm so pleased with my bow as well :o)

This is the section of fabric I used for the back of the pinkeep -

Photobucket

I love, love, love it! I'm really in a Halloween mood. I just wish I had more October so I could stitch a few more Halloween projects. I will now be returning to Tot but there is no way she'll be done by the end of the month :o(

Things have been absolutely hectic here and I'm SO behind in emails and reading Blogs so please don't think that I've disappeared. I will, eventually, get caught up with everyone :o) Tomorrow DH and I are meeting with the realtor so the house is going to officially go on the market! We're done all our renovations so I'll have to post some new pictures for you. I'm really happy with the way things have turned out but I'm glad we will be moving.

Please don't forget to sign up for the breast cancer wall hanging RR. The post is below. You can add more than one name and I will ship overseas :o) I really want to thank those that have signed up already and I will be in touch after Pumpkin Day with all the details.

Btw, before I go, here's a little enabling -

Photobucket

Isn't it cute! It's a new thread pack by Crescent Colours especially for Breast Cancer Awareness Month :o)
