Junior's Nursery Tour!

I'm sorry it's taken me this long to post pictures of Junior's room but in a way, it's been a nightmare (at the very beginning anyway)! LOL! We had problems with the crib, chair cushions and paint. In the end, I think it's all been worth it ;o)

I had a certain image in my mind of what I wanted and although it's not 100%, I'm quite happy with the final results. There are still a few things missing that would make the room complete but I know a lot of you have been 'patiently' waiting to see what we've done ;o)

As you enter the room, this is what you see -

Photobucket

This was DH's grandmother's chair and it was important to us that it be included in the room. Unfortunately the cushions didn't match so it was quite the journey to find replacement ones. I won't go into the whole story! Needless to say, we are very happy with the new look :o)

To the left of the chair is the changing table. We used DH's old desk that he had stained last summer -

Photobucket

The furniture doesn't all match but it's close enough for me and hey, it gives character.

Turn a little more to the left and there's Junior's new crib -

Photobucket

Do you know how hard it is to find reasonably priced crib sheets???? Oye! I'm on the search for a crib skirt as well but may have to resort to making one. And yes, the monkey blanket and stuffed monkey will be removed from the crib when Junior comes home. You're not allowed to have ANY-THING in the crib with the baby. Not even the bumper guard!

As we continue left you get to see the entry to the room and his dresser -

Photobucket

You can also see DH's wonderful paint job :o) Let me tell you, painting stripes is NOT easy, even with the proper tape! Junior's going to have to live with this color for awhile ;o) LOL!

One final turn and you see where the dresser and the closet are -

Photobucket

There's not much on the walls yet and we're still in search of a rug but you get the idea :o) So what do you think? To me it's a little boy's room. DH thinks the green should have been brighter but I disagree.

Wait! The tour's not over yet! I bet you'd like to see inside the closet ;o)

Photobucket

DH installed a closet organizer. Disregard my maternity clothes because they'll be gone as soon as I don't need them anymore! So where are all the clothes I was talking about? In his dresser!

Photobucket

I'm only showing you two drawers ;o) They are stuffed with pants and shirts that will take him up to about 6-9 months. Am I going to have fun dressing Junior or what! LOL! You just wait until you see our little clothes horse ;o)

Caution...B-U-M-P Ahead!

This past Tuesday, I had another check up at the IWK. Before we left, I got DH to take another picture of me so you can see Junior's progress ;o) This is us at 27 weeks -

Photobucket

A little bigger, no? LOL!

The appointment went very well. The doctor is still extremely happy with my progress. I had to do a gestational diabetes blood test and the first one came back on the high side of the cut off line but the second proved it to be a false positive. I figured that was the case. I suspect it was all the candy and chocolate over the holidays ;o)

The nurse located Junior's heartbeat and it still remains strong. He kept avoiding her though so she had to keep moving the Doppler around. BOTH of us weren't happy when she decided to see if she could feel where his head was! I suspected it was on the right hand side and was right. That was until she found him and then he kept moving again to avoid her. LOL!

He definitely is an active one! I told DH that I hope this isn't an indication of what's to come... Our next check up is on January 31.

DH took this week off so we could do some baby things. Today he's putting the second coat of paint on the nursery :o) We chose Secret Garden by Beauti-Tone as the base and will accent that with stripes along the top of the wall with Muddy Waters (Beauti-Tone). I'm not sure if I mentioned it yet or not but the theme of the nursery is monkeys :o) Junior got his first stuffed monkey for Christmas and I found THE MOST adorable onesie with monkeys on it -

Photobucket

LOL! LOVE IT! He's our little monkey boy for sure :o)

I still have two more 2011 finishes to show you and my current WIPs. See, I wasn't kidding when I said I was way behind on my Blogging!

Santa's New Entryway

Another successful Christmas has come and gone. As always, it was here and gone before we knew it! This year, my parents were here for the holidays and we had a very nice visit with them :o) They even gave Junior his first Christmas present! LOL! He got a HUGE stuffed monkey and I'm sure he'll love it when the time comes and he can lay right on top of it :o)

As I mentioned in my previous post, DH and I had already bought our Christmas gifts for each other and got to enjoy them even before the big day. Each year we buy ourselves a pewter ornament for the tree and this year it was two chickadees -

Photobucket

It signifies that this will be our last Christmas as two ;o)

We also bit the bullet and put in a propane fireplace!

Photobucket

It may be hard to tell but DH had to build out the wall around the fireplace and it's not complete. I wouldn't let him do any sanding because I had just put up all the decorations and cleaned the house ;o) Remember the white mantle? Well, it's been stripped (partially) and whittled down. I love the look but we're still not sure if we'll repaint it or stain it. We also still have to pick out some tile to put around the fireplace insert.

And do you notice the area rug? That's my new $3,000.00 addition! Nope, I'm not kidding! Did we pay $3,000.00? Are you crazy? LOL! When we were searching out area rugs, I came across this great site called Rugs On Time. The real price? Just $421! That included free shipping, no tax and a free under cushion. How awesome is that?

I've still got loads to share but I'm still catching up with my Blog reading. Hopefully my Blog won't be as neglected in the New Year ;o)

Rumble & Roll

Well if last night was like watching a rock n' roll band, it would have been one awesome concert! We had one wicked thunder and lightning storm that lasted from about 11pm to 2pm. How do I know? I was awake :oS

It was one rumble and boom after another; followed by flashes of light so bright, it was like daytime. We lost power sometime before midnight and it never came back on until early this morning. One disadvantage to having a modem...you can't surf the internet when the power goes out >:o(

Things have been busy around the Pumpkin Patch. The sun has finally shown itself and we don't dare stare at it for fear we might startle it and it disappears ;o) LOL! DH and I have been doing a lot of yard work and it's looking so good out back. I want to show you pictures but we need to get rid of some piles before I take pictures. We've discovered that there is one thing we 'can' grow in our yard and that's rocks! DH has taken 2-3 truck loads out of here and there's still about 1-2 left.

I guess because I'm not working, DH felt the need to make me feel important and assigned me head painter of our fence project. I'm now responsible for staining the fence. Yay. Do you know how hard it is to paint lattice work???? Ugh! At least I started with the hardest part so maybe it will just get better from here. That's what I'll just keep telling myself anyway ;o) My friend K owes me a favour after I helped paint her living room but I don't think I'll torture her with this. LOL!

A few weekends ago, DH and I went for a drive to Chester. We were hoping to pick up some plants and hit a few yard sales but it was SO cold! I didn't even want my ice cream treat that I was looking forward to. Anyway, we got to exploring and look what we came across -

Photobucket

Isn't that cool???? If you are not familiar with the TV show Haven, it's being filmed here along the South Shore :o) This is Nathan's truck with the police vehicles in behind -

Photobucket

Apparently Season Two is coming out soon but we didn't see any sign of filming.

I feel like I live in such an exciting place :o)

It's Beginning To Look...

a LOT more like Christmas around here :o)

I've been working my tail off trying to get this house back to rights and save for cleaning out our closet and making the extra bed, the upstairs of the house is done! The living and dining room have been started and won't take long to finish so that just leaves the kitchen since my stitching room is already complete.

My biggest relief is that our Christmas cards are now DONE and mailed OUT! We did that yesterday and what a great feeling it was to finally have them completed. I apologize to some because you may not receive your cards until after Christmas (I imagine) but who knows, the postal service could always come through in the end. ROFLMAO!!!!

Since December 1, I've slowly been unpacking decorations and putting them up but yesterday, DH and I finally went out and got our tree :o) When I woke up this morning, DH had already put the lights on so all I had left to do was ornamefy it. Denise was wondering what our living room looks like now that the huge couch was gone and this is the result -

Photobucket

I'm love, love, loving it :o) It will look a bit bare when the tree is gone but will look awesome when the fireplace goes in (whenever that will be).

Here's a peek into the dining room -

Photobucket

I love my snowflakes that we bought last year :o) If you look to the left of this picture, you'll get a glimpse of the picture that is on our Christmas card this year -

Photobucket

We put mini lights up the staircase again this year but bought ones with a white wire so they blend in better -

Photobucket

Here are some better pictures of my ornament tree that you find at the top of our stairs -

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Most of them are ones I have made but I have added the ones I have received from friends over the years :o)

While DH and I were out yesterday, we went to Amos Pewter and bought our annual ornament. This year we got pen-gu-ins!

Photobucket

They kind of remind me of the Penguins of Madagascar ;o) LOL!

DH also picked me up a new hanger to replace my pumpkin during the winter months -

Photobucket

While the house is not stuffed to the gills with decorations, it still feels very festive. Thanks for taking the time to go on the tour and I hope you enjoyed :o)

My New TV Room

Miracles of miracles, the delivery company found us on the third try and we received our entertainment unit on Monday ;o) Apparently they did the same thing to our neighbour across the street. Have they ever heard of GPS???? The guy kept calling me 'sweetheart' and that didn't go over well with me >:o( He's lucky he didn't get slugged!

Thankfully everything was okay despite being in transit for over a week. Being the person I am, I couldn't contain my excitement and began assembling the television stand. Now I realize that IKEA deals with countries from all over the world and I can understand why all their instructions are just pictures with no words but golly...I think I may have to brush up on my Pictionary skills! LOL!

It took a few days to assemble, gather all our books and then fill all the shelves. Even with two huge drawers, we still didn't have enough storage for our DVD collection :oP So without further ado, here's our new unit -

Photobucket

Photobucket

We just love it! We took the door to the room completely off since we'll never need it and it would have blocked the left bookcase.

Turn to the right and on the opposite wall is the couch that was down in the living room -

Photobucket

Remember I said that DH must have had a guy from work come and help him move it? Well the crazy fool had moved it himself! Turns out he got stuck halfway up the stairs ;o) We have a small landing and I have an ivy growing there. It has attached itself to the wall and I didn't want it moved. How he managed without hurting himself, I don't know. DH also got a new end table from a co-worker. It's really cool and so him. There's a humidor attached to the top!

Moving a little more to the right and you'll find my side of the couch -

Photobucket

That leaves a small empty space under the print. Sadly, there isn't much more room left for any new books we may receive down the road so we might look into a small bookcase to put there or a long bench. We're not sure yet.

Things are coming together :o)

My New Stitching Room

This week has been busy, busy, busy! Each day I've been on the go and by the time I get home I'm just too tired to stitch or Blog :o(

As I mentioned in a previous post, we 'were' expecting delivery of our new entertainment unit this past Monday. Well...they called Monday and asked for directions but it turns out they were on the other side of the province. Apparently there are two places with the same name. Okay, so I explain where we are and set up delivery for Wednesday. Well...they called Wednesday and asked for directions but guess what? They went to the OTHER place...AGAIN! Maybe I didn't speak proper English when I gave them the directions ;o) Now it's set up for this coming Monday morning. We'll see if they can find us this time. The third time's a charm right? LOL!

In the meantime, we've been getting things ready and one of my jobs was to rearrange my stitching room to accommodate my revamped sofa :o) After seeing the totes upon totes of stuff, DH says I have too many hobbies. Pfffffttttt!

This morning I went and got my hair done. It's been about ten months since I got my foils so I was due. I needed something to cover those white hairs that are mysteriously popping out of my head ;o) When I arrived home, DH must have gotten one of the guys from work over because we had a case of musical chairs. LOL! So here are some pictures of my new room -

Photobucket

My desk remains in the same spot since all the plug-ins are along that wall -

Photobucket

Even poor Popcorn had to be moved -

Photobucket

The only problem I have with her new location is that my little 'sweetheart' can nibble the curtain if I leave it down so it has to be knotted up...

Photobucket

The 'majority' of my stash ;o)

Photobucket

And the 'new' loveseat -

Photobucket

Eventually I would like to get a flat screen television with built in DVD player to put on the wall above the desk. Besides that, the only other thing missing is my table and lamp. I'm still deciding which one I want to put there.

Thank you for all the wonderful comments on Sabrina :o)

Where Has The Time Gone?

Has it really been a week since I last posted? Yikes! I have no idea where the time has gone. I've been running here, there and everywhere but it doesn't seem like anything is getting done. DH had four days off this past week but his busy season starts next Monday so he might be a bit scarce for awhile :o(

I will have some stitchy pictures to show you soon but I'm waiting until I have a good enough progress picture to show you ;o) Am I a tease or what? LOL!

There are going to be some changes here at the Pumpkin Patch over the next few weeks. Good changes, don't worry! :o) We have a new entertainment unit coming in on Monday for the upstairs television room! DH and I are SO excited because that means that we'll have easier access to our DVD collection and our books can 'finally' be unpacked after ten years.

That being said, DH had to finish painting the room and replacing the baseboard. When we bought the house, this was a third bedroom but we converted it to meet our needs and we had the closet taken out for more room...hence the finishing.

I had mentioned awhile back that we were thinking about getting a fireplace. Unfortunately that has been put 'on hold' but we are still planning on it at a later date. This is where things might start to get a little confusing ;o)

Taking into account the new entertainment unit and the 'possible' (future) fireplace, DH and I will be doing our own version of musical chairs! Since there will be no room for the sofa in the living room, that will be moved into our television room upstairs. With the sofa being gone, we decided to replace it with my nice recliner that is in my stitching room. Wait! I'm not going to end up chairless ;o)

On the weekend, DH and I tackled the nemesis couch that is already in our television room. For those that don't remember, it's got a recliner on one side and a chaise on the other -

Shortly after we bought it, I was having trouble on the chaise side because my butt slowly sunk into a hole >:o( We called the company and they had someone come out to fix it. It was good for awhile and then I slowly sank back into my hole and it was not comfortable. I contacted the company again and suggested we order a recliner for that side to replace the chaise. They couldn't guarantee that the fabric would match and suggested a partial (very small) refund. Not too long after that, the company went bums up. So what do you do with a piece of fairly new (and not cheap) furniture that you hate? You revamp it!

TA-DA!

Photobucket

This will be the new loveseat in my stitching room! I really think that DH and I have a future in furniture building ;o) What do you think? LOL!

Our Cool Find!

For months I have been drooling over finds that some Bloggers have come across while bargain hunting. We don't have a lot of places around here but there are a few; you just have to hit them at the right time ;o)

DH and I were out one day and decided to drop in on an antique store that has really weird hours but I'm glad we did! While browsing, DH came across an empty gramophone cabinet that he thought would be perfect as a bar -

Photobucket

Isn't it gorgeous? Since we moved into this house, we've been trying to come up with something that would work well as a bar but we only had so much room. This fits perfectly in our dining room!

Photobucket

As you can see, the top opens up on hinges. Normally there is a shelf close to the top but we're going to remove that and this will be where DH will put his liquor bottles and decanters.

Photobucket

When you open the two doors on the front, there is an area to store glasses :o)

Definitely not a $2 find but much cheaper than if we bought a new cabinet! LOL!

Won't You Come In :o)

Since this is a stitching Blog and since I don't have any stitching to show, I thought I would take you for a tour around my Stitching Room! I remember last year when I took you for the tour of the new house, I left it out because I was hoping to have it a bit more finished before revealing it. Well...that never happened. It's still a WIP and will be for awhile ;o) At least you'll get an idea where I cram all my stash. LOL!

When you walk into the room, the first thing you see is my computer desk -

Photobucket

There is a window on either side of it so there is plenty of light that comes into the room during the day.

If you move around to the left, you'll see my wall full of storage bins with Popcorn squashed in there somewhere -

Photobucket

She was living in the TV Room but we've decided that for DH's mental health she was better off downstairs ;o) I think she enjoys this location much better and she's proving to be a great companion.

Here's a close up of my stitching bins -

Photobucket

Just a note...you don't want to know how much is in there ;o)

Move a little more to the left and you get the back of the door that leads into the room -

Photobucket

There you'll see even more bins.

To the left of the door is one of my favourite spots :o) This is one of my stitching areas with my very own Ott-Lite and...recliner -

Photobucket

That's my Angel of Hope by L&L on the wall :o) What you don't see is that there are even MORE bins behind the chair...

I hope you have enjoyed the tour. Please exit through the door on your right ;o)
