Believe it or not, Junior has received even more gifts :o)
I've been reading Tatyana's Blog for awhile now and coveted her adorable owls that she was making. She offered to make a special one just for Junior and it even has a bell inside it -
Of course, she added a few things for Mommy too. LOL! Thank you so much Tatyana. As always, it's a joy doing an exchange with you :o)
The second package was a complete surprise! Teresa sent the following -
I have wanted that Charles Craft (oups, not DMC) monkey ever since I saw it but never thought I would get one! Now to decide what to stitch on his bib :o) Teresa also made me some burp cloths. These are awesome! I'd never heard about them before the shower but I'm glad I have enough that I can stuff a few in the diaper bags. Thank you Teresa!
Both are such talented ladies!
I've got loads of stitching to show you so stay tuned ;o)
A baby shower that is ;o) As most of you know, I went back to NB two weekends ago to attend my own shower and spend some time with my family. I'm ashamed it's taken me this long to post this but when I got home, I came down with this horrid head cold and I've been miserable ever since. Ugh!
Anyway, Mom and our friend S did a fabulous job of putting this party together. S opened up her home for the party and it was greatly appreciated. I think Mom had such a fun time shopping for all the supplies and she did a great job. It was a jungle theme, including a monkey of course ;o)
When the guests came in, there was a banner (in the same theme) they could sign. I plan on putting it up in Junior's room. Believe it or not but I have not read the messages yet. Why? I'm not sure but I'm think I'm afraid I might cry.
There was a ton of food! So delicious! And of course a cake with little blue baby booties made of icing :o) Mom had also put together goodie bags for the guests to take home with them.
In the end, there were fourteen people (including me). Fifteen if you include the 'baby' -
I had a few people cancel at the last minute and although I really missed seeing them, I completely understand why they couldn't be there. I did enjoy catching up with everyone but sadly three hours flies by fast.
I can't believe how spoiled I was! The gifts were overwhelming and I thought they would never stop -
I've done my best to take pictures of everything but there are a few things missing from the following pictures. There were a handful of books and two dog snugglies that didn't get included. I ran out of steam while taking the pictures so that's why no books but the snugglies are at S's house because she's going to embroider Junior's name on them when we announce his name ;o)
Can you believe all this came home with me???? I had brought an extra suitcase with me but in the end, there were three extra boxes and a crib mattress that came back across the ferry! LOL! There were some people that had passed on some items to us so that's why the extra baggage. It's a good thing they have a container to place these items in. I can't imagine trying to lug all that with me on the ferry ;o)
The majority of everything has been washed, sorted and put away. The nursery IS getting closer to being finished! I can't thank everyone enough for making that day so special :o) I truly have the best family and friends. More to come...
Over the holidays, my mailbox was happy on more than one occasion ;o) I have the nicest friends!
I'm sure most of you will recognize this sweet little mistletoe from Nia -
How she had the patience to make them all herself, I'll never know! It hung proudly in the middle of our living room over Christmas. Thank you Nia :o)
Next, a box arrived from Donna (no Blog). I had so much fun going through the goodies she sent -
I just love the blue teddy bear for Junior! I really got a kick out of my carrot bunny ornament -
Isn't that just THE cutest???? I know I haven't officially thanked you so thank you so much Donna :o)
Just when I thought the Christmas cards were done, along came one from Myra and she included a little portable ort container -
Just adorable and it's going right into my stitching bag :o) Thank you Myra for another one of your perfect sewing projects!
Back in December, Melanie hosted a giveaway and I was one of the lucky winners! And I mean l-u-c-k-y because no one else asked for her handmade socks :o)
I have coveted her socks ever since I started reading her Blog so I am SO thrilled to now have a pair!!!! I LOVE THEM Melanie and thank you so much.
I also want to thank those that sent Christmas cards and ecards as well. I loved receiving them and they put a smile on my face :o)
What's up next? Look out for the b-u-m-p! ;o)
It still amazes me after all these years of Blogging and being on the computer the kinds of relationships you can develop. Here you are connecting with someone you have never met face to face or even talked to on the phone and an instant friendship blossoms :o) I've met a lot of wonderful people over these years and in this post, I want to thank two very special ones.
Carol and I have been reading each other's Blogs for a few years now and I've always admired her work and talent :o) Imagine my surprise when I went to the mailbox one day and discovered this waiting for me -
Yes, that lovely little bunny made its way to my house! I am SO honored to have a piece of Carol's stitching and her over one work is phenomenal! I had asked her about borrowing The Prairie Schooler chart she had but she went well beyond her friendship duty and bought me my own copy :o) Thank you so much Carol!
The second person made an appearance on my Blog awhile back. Somehow I think it was fate that brought us together :o) When we put Duncan to sleep, I immediately knew what I wanted to get DH for his birthday; a watercolor portrait to go on the wall with the one she did of Brie. Jobi did not disappoint and went above and beyond my expectations -
Not only was there the portrait of Duncan but one of Brie and Duncan together :o) DH and I were SO touched! Unfortunately I'm one frame short but expect to fix that next week when we go back to the Big City. We plan on putting them up behind the couch and that way we can all watch television together.
I highly recommend Jobi's work! She is a very talented artist and has done a fantastic job of bringing our critter kids back to life. Thank you again Jobi :o)
IMPORTANT NOTE: For those of you who follow my Blog, you'll know that my Blogaversary is coming up towards the end of the month :o) Five years! Wow! And as you know, I always give away a nice GC from an ONS... Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed with the turnout from my last giveaway. It seems that some people just come out of the shadows for the gifts and then retreat again :o(
Now don't get me wrong! I know that life is hectic and there is not always time to read everyone's Blogs. I'm guilty of that and as we speak, I'm behind myself. BUT...I do eventually read those Blogs and I do leave comments.
So...I've come up with a new rule. In order to be included in this year's giveaway, you must have commented on every post from now until I upload the post for my Blogaversary. Honestly, not that hard ;o) I hope you will understand and continue to enjoy the craziness that is The Pumpkin Patch.
I have been sitting on this post for awhile now. Not because I wanted to but because I was waiting for Canada Post to get their act together and deliver the mail that I was waiting for >:o(
I truly have some wonderful friends and Nia is one of them :o) This little guy arrived ages ago and I feel bad that it took me this long to show him off -
I was one of the lucky recipients of her bunny sachets. Nia filled them with lavender and they smell oh-so-heavenly! I just adore the card that she sent with it.
Nia also spoiled me on my birthday and sent me 'the most' perfect bunny bag -
She not only stitched the bunny but she sewed the bag up for me too and I have to say that she is a perfectionist! Nia's work is amazing. She also included the scissors that were on my wish list. My collection is growing by leaps and bounds!
Denise also sent me something off my wish list and it arrived just in time for my birthday -
Another sampler to add to my sampler collection. LOL! Awesome :o)
One day I picked up a huge box from the post office and was shocked at all the wonderful goodies inside! Donna (no Blog) sent me this amazing assortment -
I had to take the picture twice because I had already used the water bottle and forgot to put it in the picture ;o) I have no idea where she found the Pumpkin Patch sign but it couldn't be more perfect! She also found some pink ribbon stickers and I've been looking out for these for the longest time.
Karen got creative and did her shopping on Etsy -
What could be more perfect for my birthday than a necklace with my name and birthstone? :o) I love it!
I also had a birthday order come from Needlecraft Corner but everything was put away by this time so unfortunately you don't get to see my stash :o( I can tell you that Lady Alex arrived with fabric and the rest of the beads I need to stitch her though.
Finally, I have wanted this pattern for a LONG time now and was lucky enough to buy it off of Heather -
Thank you Heather! It's always a pleasure buying from you. LOL!
I want to thank all my super friends for your thoughtfulness and kindness. I am truly lucky to know you all and I appreciate all that you do :o)
Here's another project that I thought would NEVER end! While I adore this pattern (and you'll see why in a minute), it seemed that I was spending all my time on it this month. This is Rabbit Egg by Elisa Tortonesi -
It was meant to be a monochromatic piece but I wanted to change things up and make it look more spring like :o) I stitched it on 32 count Bay Leaf Jobelan (LOVE this fabric) with DMC threads.
There was some frogging and re-charting of areas so that might account for my slow progress :oS I think the flowers are 'supposed' to be dandelions but I wanted them pink. There were also carrots in the middle but since I didn't want any orange in this piece, I took them out and just put more grass in for the bunnies. LOL!
I have a plan for how I'm going to finish this but it's going to remain secret until I can get going on it. I will give you a hint though...I'm going to use the same material that I used with Charmed Flake. How is that for a teaser?
Just when you think all is lost, up it pops from the depths from somewhere in the post office! Back in January, I had won this chart from Danielle -
It was mailed on January 29 but never arrived. After two months, I pretty much gave up hope. Then yesterday, I picked up the mail and there it was! Of course it had a big honkin' stamp on the envelope saying "Found In Supposedly Empty Equipment ". WTH? And we wonder why things get lost in the mail...
Thank you Danielle :o)
Yes, that's me. Bad! Very, very, very bad :o( I've been very neglectful of my Blog and sharing with you some wonderful things that have landed in my mailbox as of late. I apologize profusely to those that deserve these HUGE thank yous and I will accept the thirty lashings of the wet noodle...
When the woman at the post office handed me over this huge envelope, I had no idea what it was. I saw Terri's name on the return address but it wasn't until I opened the package that I realized it was a RAK :o) Terri was SO generous! Look at all the goodies that she sent -
I was just thrilled! But then I opened up the tiny package that was included and just stared in awe -
Terri stitched this over one and it's beautiful! Right now I have him/her hanging on my Ott-Lite but come Christmas, he/she will go right onto my ornament tree :o) Thank you SO much Terri! I know I'm late with my thank you but I can tell you that you definitely put a smile on my face that day and each day that I look at my cute little bird.
Last week another package arrived and I was just as stumped. This time it was from Myra! When I opened the envelope, this is what I found -
Isn't that just the cutest little pouch? But wait...there was something inside -
What could it be?
Myra made me a magnetic needle minder with my initial and a pumpkin :o) How perfect a combination is that? Not to mention the fact that I'm always putting my needle in my mouth (I know, a HUGE no-no) or pinning it to some part of my clothing (equally as bad because I sometimes forget where I pinned it) so hopefully this will get me out of those bad habits. LOL! Thank you Myra. You make such lovely things and I'm honoured to have a few of them in my home :o)
Yippee skippy...block four of Christmas Rules is done!
I truly missed stitching on this project for the remainder of March. Come to think about it, I wasn't really that smart this month either because now I have almost another four weeks before I can stitch on this again ;o) LOL! Here is what the whole thing looks like -
I wonder how Nia is coming along :o)
I've had a few people ask how I'm doing so I thought I should probably update you. I saw my doctor and as far as he's concerned, it's my Fibro that's been acting up :o( He did order a blood test for Rheumatoid Arthritis but he doesn't think I have it. He gave me a new prescription for my Tylenol 3 with Codeine because my other one was from 2008 (I think) so its kick was pretty much gone. I can honestly say that one of the new pills doesn't really do anything for the pain either :o(
Thankfully the pain has subsided but there are days, like today, when I can feel it in my knees and elbows. Not fun. I also got some new medication for my migraines and although it seems to work like a charm without knocking me out, the prescription is pretty expensive! Just to give you an idea, six pills cost us $22 and that was 'with' coverage. Oye!
I can definitely say that I am truly blessed by wonderful friends though and that has kept my spirits up during this time :o) At the first of the week, I received a package of charts and floss from one of my Stalkers -
Colleen (no Blog) is from my home province of NB and has been reading my Blog for awhile now. She did a RAK and I couldn't be more thrilled! Thank you again Colleen! You are too kind and just know this stash went to a good home. A thank you will be sent out soon ;o)
Then yesterday I picked up another parcel and this was something I wasn't expecting. When I read the return address and saw that it was from Tina, I wondered what she was up to... Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and found this -
ROFL!!!! Tina sent me a package of ECEs and Milka cream filled eggs (they even come with little tiny spoons!). Apparently she thought she could convert me... I'm sorry to say Tina but it didn't work :o( I guess I'm just an ECE girl at heart ;o) Thank you so much for the thoughtful package though. It really did put a much needed smile on my face!
Since Saint Patrick's Day is not far off, I thought I would stitch something to celebrate the day. I've never stitched anything for it before but since I already had this kit, I figured I might as well make use of it and decrease my stash :o) This is Irish Luck by Just Another Button Company -
The pattern originally called for 32 count Sienna Natural linen but my kit already contained this 28 count green moulted linen. I have no idea what color it is and I've never seen it before so unfortunately I can't answer that question if you ask it. LOL!
I plan on making this into either a tuck pillow or pinkeep but I have no Saint Patrick's Day fabric in my stash! Hard to believe ;o) LOL! Knowing me, it will just go into my tote that holds all my finishes. Sigh!
Is there anyone else stitching something for Saint Patrick's Day?
DH just came home with the most wonderful package! I received my pin cushion from Patty, among other goodies -
I couldn't believe the weight of it! Is it stuffed with walnut shells? The rose pins and zipper pull are adorable :o) I love the little metal tags and the skein of floss (Valentine) by Nina is incredible! Thank you so much Patty! You put a smile in an otherwise dreary weekend ;o)
It seems that my mailbox has been spitting out some wonderful mail the past few weeks. Okay, so there are a few bills here and there but the good stuff definitely outnumbers the bad :o)
Karen had warned me that she sent me something pink but I was REALLY surprised when I opened the package and found these -
Just to let you know Karen, DH says he won't wear them in the bedroom ;o) ROFL! They are by far the most unique item in my pink collection. Thank you so much Karen! I love the little notepad as well ;o)
Yesterday I received a surprise that I wasn't expecting. Tina sent me the cutest Christmas card along with a donkey ornament -
Isn't it just the sweetest???? If you know Tina, you know she is a huge donkey lover :o) Thank you SO much Tina and your little fellow has found his own spot on my ornament tree -
Sorry for the bad pictures. The weather has been quite dismal here :o(
I am truly blessed to have so many wonderful friends :o) Thank you again girls...your gifts definitely put a smile on my face!
I was so excited when I received a parcel from Wendy at the first of this week :o) I had won the giveaway she had on her Blog and this is what I received -
It's absolutely lovely! This is the second item that I have of Wendy's and she is a fabulous artist. I now have my birdies hanging between the living and dining room where I can see them from every angle :o) I love the fabrics that she used -
Thank you SO much Wendy! I'm certainly going to enjoy my gift this season and for many more to come!
