Tenth Finish For 2009

Ladies, ladies, ladies...(shaking head). I think only two of you hazarded a guess :o( That's okay because I didn't think you'd end up guessing anyway. I really tricked you on this one ;o) Here is Christmas Sampler by The Needle & I -

Photobucket

Huh? "Where did you get this pattern?" you ask? LOL! It's actually from the November/December 1988 issue of Just Cross Stitch, the Special Holiday Issue. I told you that you'd never guess ;o) I received this magazine, along with many others, from a wonderful family member. It's pretty neat to look back and see patterns by Sheepish Designs, The Sweetheart Tree and The Prairie Schooler, just to name a few.

I stitched this design on 32 count Driftwood I don't know. For the life of me, I cannot think of the name of this fabric! It's got a white thread going one way and a brown thread going the other so that they are weaved together. Anyway, I really dislike the stuff! Having the white blended in sure made it hard to keep count sometimes. I'd have to keep moving my work around to catch the right light. Unfortunately, I want to stitch (a simple) back for this and I don't relish the idea of stitching on this fabric again :oP

So what's next? I picked up my Birds & Berries by The Prairie Schooler again. I thought I had better pay that some attention. LOL! I'm still up in the air about which fabric to stitch my Quaker Lady & Gentleman on. So much so that I've put up a poll on the right hand side of my Blog. Please vote and give me some direction!!!!

Since this is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I thought I would make you 'aware' of a wonderful giveaway that Jennifer is doing. She has put together a beautiful pink package in honour of this important month. So please check out her Blog and enter this fantastic contest :o)

Do you know what the meaning of pointless is? It's taking your clean underwear out of the washer, shaking it out and flinging it halfway across the basement only to land on the floor that is covered with dirt and dog hair :oP

I voted for linen. I have the patterns too and I just love them! Am forcing myself to wait to start them, as we are moving into our first home at the end of this month. Wouldn't feel right about stitching when there is so much packing to be done! Your finish is lovely!

Cute finish. It's fun to pick up the older designs and stitch them up I think.

And thanks for explaining 'pointless' to me. I have a slew of other examples that I'd best keep to myself!

Darling finish! Don't you love getting an early start on Christmas ornaments? Poo, my guess was WRONG!

ROFLOL I was putting folded washcloths in the cabinet once and lost control...dumped the entire stack into the toilet. Lesson learned, I now close the lid when I put the laundry away.

Wash the basement floor, woman!

Hi Cathey,

You know, I would have thought
this pretty design was something
from the Prairie Schooler folk.
So what do I know??? It's a
really pretty little design, no
matter who was responsible for
creating it.

Too bad that the fabric gave you
conniptions. The color of it
really allows the thread colors
to show up nicely and it looks
like a nice evenweave.

I'm a big fan of evenweave
fabric so I voted that way on
your poll.

I do envy you being able to
walk to the beach from you house.
I'd go every day! Well, maybe
not during a raging snow storm
or a thunderstorm...but other
wise....

Your sea glass collection is
very pretty and looks great in
that bottle. The blue pieces
are very striking!

We're getting true Autumn
weather here too, which means
grey skies, rain and strong
winds. Not a lot of color
in the trees yet, but that'll
come soon enough, and then be
gone before we know it.

Did you eat the last Cadbury
Easter Creme Egg yet??? My
Dad use to get such a kick out
of the commercials with the
clucking rabbits. Your little
clucking bunny there would have
tickled his fancy.

Cheers!

Cute finish ! I have that magazine somewhere, must dig it out. I'm doing Quaker Lady on 28 ct. white evenweave without the alphabet.

I would have bet money it was a PS design. Very cute, indeed! Anything with a house or alphabet is a winner in my book!

You did a good job on your project. It is appropriate for you as this being your first Christmas in your new home. I really love it.

I also like your meaning of pointless. I did have a chuckle when I read it.

Thank you for explaining what "pointless" is. Lol...

I've just voted and I voted for the linen. I think it's because I mostly stitch on linen and I love the look of it.
That Driftwood linen could be a Zweigart fabric.
Congratulations on this nice little finish. I often go through my old magazines and I always find many nice patterns that I want to stitch. Too many ..

Congrats on your finish!

No wonder I didn't guess right...that magazine was published before I was born. (Yeah, right...LOL)! It is fun to go back through the older magazines and find some treasures :)

Fun finish, nope wouldn't have guessed the designer. As to your poll, I voted for the lugana. I love thelook of linen, it seems to have a lighter look, but the thick thin strands can drive me nuts sometimes. Looking forward to seeing your progress on Birds and Berries.
