Today I went to visit the Tour For The Cure bus since it was in a nearby town -
Pretty, isn't it? :o) They had some great information, although I knew most of it but it would definitely benefit those that don't. One thing I did learn though is to find lumps in my breast. I didn't come across that with my breast cancer so I had no idea what to look for. They had fake boobies, nipple and all, and you had to find the lumps in them. I was wrong on a few tries and I guess that's what so baffling; are you feeling an actual lump or just breast tissue? Now I can understand how women can be so confused.
When I left, they gave me a little gift -
I love what the 'Do Not Disturb' sign says! LOL! Since Gagnon is a big sponsor for the Tour For The Cure, they included some of their Fruitfulls. For those of you who haven't heard the name Gagnon before, they are located in St. Stephen, NB and they're a huge candy maker company. I got to tour their facilities one summer and it was DIVINE seeing all that candy and chocolate :o)
Well, I went ahead and did something stupid. I was in Zellers the other day and I spotted this -
Bernat has come out with a limited edition yarn to raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. I, of course, decided to pick up a few balls. Why? Because I 'just need' another hobby? Ha! Do I crochet? No. Do I knit? Not in a 'long' time. I'm a sucker ;o)
And off I go with my yarn, a crochet hook and needles. Thankfully, I have a neighbour who has generously offered her help if I need it. I also found a Learning To Knit book in my pile of things. Why I have it there, I have no idea. LOL! So what am I going to knit? It's going to remain a secret because I'll have to see if a) I can recall how to knit and b) that the final product actually looks like something decent to share ;o)
Before I go, I see that I have some new readers and I welcome you to the Pumpkin Patch :o) I love reading my comments. It really makes my day. I also want to let you know to keep your eyes peeled for my Blogoversary/50,000 post. There will be some surprises so don't forget to tune in!

I sure hope the bus comes to Vancouver. Good luck with the knitting, I'm sure once you start it will all come back. I tried knitting, but my tensions are so off it's all stretched out before I get to the second row :)
Know that I will be on the hunt for some of the wool and I do crochet and knit but mostly stitch. Be always in anykind of stitches.
Knitting can be fun and relaxing. A nice break from x-stitching sometimes. But I get bored with it pretty quickly. That's pretty yarn so have fun learning!
And I also find the those self-exams confusing. I think it would have to be a very large lump for me to notice.
Have fun with the new hooby ;-) I don't need a new hobby: too much stash is waiting for me .... :-)

That's a neat idea, the Tour for the Cure bus! I went to a few Breast Cancer Awareness things in the US. They need to do more of that in Ireland.
I haven't visited the bus but have had the chance to find the lumps on previous visits for that friendly squeeze woman get! lol
Love that yarn...I'll see if our store carries any....may be dusting off my knitting needles as well!
Oh, you've found a new hobby, lol. But isn't knitting or crocheting with a needle, to? So it's just in the usual path :)))
This bus is such a great idea. I've never heard about such an action over here.
Cathey, I think you still remember how to knit and will greatle enjoy this hobby too.
Sounds like this bus brings a lot of useful information for women.
That yarn is fabulous! I will have to stalk some of the stores around here to see if any of them have that color. That kind of yarn makes great dishcloths, so my guess is that's what your project is :)
The bus looks lovely, what a great idea. Wonder if they ever do anything similar in my area. Love the yarn you found, it would make a beautiful scarf. I'll look forward to seeing what you make with it. Very cute earlier finish of the frog biscornu, too cute. My sister in law made me one like that and I love it.

What a neat looking bus!! It is very confusing when your checking and you don't know if its tissue or not. I have a couple customers where I work who have recently got worse and I feel so bad for them when the mastectomy doesn't work out.
Well just just keep spirits up that with all the money raised all the time that they WILL find a cure soon!
We need something like that Bus over here, It is confusing as you are told to check, but what type of lump exactly is not clear, I found what I thought was a lump, and even my GP wasn't sure. I went to the hospital for checks to be told it was just breast tissue, I felt relieved but felt daft for wasting their time. I am a little more cautious now.
I love that wool , I have some wool that I bought to teach myself to knit and crochet,but I keep giving up.LOL I hope you have more luck!!

The Tour for the Cure bus is gorgeous! What a fabulous idea. I never knew any such bus existed.
I'm less than 2 weeks now to the Run for the Cure. I'm really looking forward to it. I didn't raise as much as I was hoping to, but I hope in some small way I've made a difference and have inspired my team to be excited, especially those that have never participated prior to this year.
