What a beautiful day to start off 2008! We might as well enjoy it now because they're calling for more...snow :o( That's right! Another storm. Argh! Seriously, how much more do we need????
We have packed up and it's back to the real world. DH had to leave two hours ahead of me so that he could clean out our driveway before I got home. I don't think Pickles would have been too happy to stay out in the cold car for an hour or so ;o)
You may have noticed some changes on my Blog :o) There are going to be quite a few this year. Since my stitching numbers were a success in 2007, I have decided to slow down for 2008 and make it my 'year of leisure'. LOL! The large project bug has bitten and my goal for this year is to finish one for the fair in September. I'm giving you plenty of warning Katie ;o)
So what's my first start for 2008? Stargazer! Yay! I am finally bringing her to life :o) I've added a ticker to the top of my Blog so I can see how long it's going to take me to stitch her. I can't see it being too long although all that beading will slow me down.
I have also amended my list of stitching goals. Instead of listing the 'actual' projects that I want to stitch, I'm breaking things down into four categories - large, medium, small and ornament size. This is what I would like to accomplish for 2008 -

- one large project (this would include L&L, Mirabilia, Lanarte, etc.)
- three medium projects (this would include Sam Sarah Designs, Imaginating, some LHN, etc.)
- four small projects (this would include Bent Creek, HIH, Dragon Dreams, etc.)
- five ornament size projects (this would include anything from the JCS Ornament Issues, LK, San Man Originals, etc.)
You can see my 2007 finishes and my 2008 goals in The Graveyard :o)
As far as non-stitchy stuff goes, I am going to continue on my better 'lifestyle' although I will have to rein things in now that the holidays are over with. I've also gotten a hold of the book You On A Diet by Dr. Oz so I plan on reading that through and getting some new ideas.
I'm going to keep a list of all the new (to me) movies and books that I watch and read throughout the year. I'll be keeping track of them on the right hand side of my Blog so you can check that out from time to time if that interests you :o)
Finally, I want to continue with my writing. Blogging has allowed me to open myself up in a whole new way and I love it. I also love it that I have met so many wonderful and kind people this way. I want those friendships to continue and possibly even evolve :o)
I want to thank everyone who does come and visit my Blog, as wacky as it is sometimes. LOL! This year may have been crappy on most levels but the ones that matter the most (family and friends) made up for all of that :o) Thank you.

Well, my new year has started off with bandaids... so I don't know what I think of 2008 so far ;)
Glad you have an idea of what your goals are... I have more of a Hippie outlook. "Go where the path leads you, man... and hug a few trees along the way". lol
Lord knows I will proably fall right into some of those trees, rofl.
Hi Cathey,
I've been a reader of your blog for quite some time now, and thought perhaps I would take a moment to say hello and send you my warmest best wishes for the New Year.
I have enjoyed reading your blog this year and seeing all your wonderful stitching and finishes.
But I have also admired how you've handled the trials and frustrations that you've dealt with in your life, with determination and grit. Set backs cause pain, worry and anger, but you fight your way back and don't give up. Good on you!
I look forward to reading your blog in the new year and cheering you on when you need support and grinning to myself when you forge on with life.
Your Christmas tree is one of the prettiest that I've seen this season. And your sea urchin snowman is so cute.
Best wishes to you and your DH for the coming New Year. Cheers!
Hope you don't get too much snow, how is Brie coping with outside duties? do you have to clear her a patch?
good luck with your challenges, I aim (note aim) to get 5 big finishes done this year and lots of ornis and some LHN designs stitched up
Good luck with your 2008 goals. Mine tend to be kind of general goals like that as well, rather than a lot of project specific ones. Stargazer is so pretty, I'll enjoy seeing you work on her.
Glad you got back ok, we got about 8 inches of snow so far, so I've been shoveling as well. I love the look of winter and snow, but I don't like to be out in it (unlike Jaz, LOL).
Sue
You have some wonderful goals set for yourself. I'm very much a goal setting kind of person, so these goals of yours really speak to me.
I have to tell you. I thought of you the other day. No, not in a creepy stranger to stranger kind of way. I was out of town over the holidays visiting my boyfriend's family and they live in this most wonderful home, pretty much decorated from my heart. I was sitiing out in their sunroom with a view of the lake looking through decorating magazines and much to my delight, there was a lamp in one of the magazine layouts made of sea urchins, much like the snowman display you posted a couple days ago. It was too neat.
Happy New Year to you and yours. I look forward to continuing to read your blog and marvel at the way you tackle life and some of the challenges life throws at you and your DH.
Happy New Year, Cathey! I like the way you broke down your stitching goals. Good luck with them!
Wishing you luck with your goals ,but I am sure that you'll easily do them and more!! ;)
I have really enjoyed coming by and seeing your finishes and hope to see lots more!!
Happy New Year Cathey!
Good luck with your plans for 2008 (stitching and otherwise)!!
I'm so glad you have 2008 set as a year for big projects... I love seeing other people's large projects grow! I always find it makes me want to stitch more on my own when I see other peole making progress. I'm a sucker for anything that's chock full of beads anyway :)
Hi, so good to read your goals. You always inspire me. I have not had much chance to think on too many sitching goals but I really need to do that. I can't wait to see Stargazer. I bet its lovely. Happy New Year to you and yours, dear Cathey. Hugs, Sharon
I love the idea of the ticker to track your time...I may have to 'borrow' the idea!
So nice of your DH is get the shoveling done before your arrival home...how deep was it?
Great goals! I would do some but as soon as I decide upon some that assures that they will never get done. In fact they probably won't even be touched.
I love the ticker. I was just thinking this weekend about doing one regarding the death of my crafting desires but I didn't know if they counted up.
Enjoy the new year!! I'll still be here!
Very reasonable goals. I love Stargazer, it will be fun to watch you stitch her.
Happy 2008 ;)
The easiest thing would be to say "ditto" to what everyone's said ... but I must also add how blessed I feel to know you through our blogs & emails. We all have good & bad in our lives, but coming to your blog to read how you pull yourself out of a bad one or to read your observations of your surroundings - girl, you always pull me out of my funk & make me grin! You are truly a blessing in this crazy world!
