I've had a lot of people comment on how talented I am. It took a lot of doing but I never thought I could do this -
GOTCHA! Oh come on, I'm not THAT talented ;o) LOL! I figured that after such a long hard week, it was time for some poop humour :o)
Although it surely looks like poop, it really isn't. Honest! I don't think I could go that far seeing as the retch reflex comes on too easily for me. I can be up to me knees in horse poop but anything else, I start to gag and the bile rises from within :oP
This is actually a Pin Cherry tree. You can find these throughout most of Canada and they're about the size of a small tree or shrub. They produce lovely white petal flowers and later on, little red cherries about 1/4" in diameter. Apparently the fruit can be made into jelly, although I don't believe I've ever tried it. Please note though that the leaves of this tree are poisonous!
So what is that poop looking thing then? It's actually a disease and these trees are quite prone to it :o( I remember as a child playing around them and thinking how gross they looked. We called them the Poop Tree. LOL! The lump, or gall, is referred to as Black Knot. It's a fungus that feeds off the tree, eventually disfiguring it.
If you want to read more about Black Knot, check out this site. This concludes your nature lesson for today ;o)

I thought you had a dog like my sister's dog for a minute then, he(the dog) has to Poo on a raised surface like a mound of mud or a football.....I have no idea why??
LOL I used to call them Poop trees too. I love pin cherry jelly - you should try some sometime. :D And the trees/shrubs themself are darling. The birds adore them ! (sans the poop!)
lol you made me laugh ;)
Ewww. You got me!
Poo tree indeed
OMG you're a hoot!
You've taught this country girlsomething new... I thought they were some sort of cocoon for a butterfly. I like my version better, LOL. ;o)
How's that beading going??
Ok, that is a weird tree. While is sounds like it could be lovely with the flowers, the fungus it is prone to get certainly leaves a lot to be desired. You'll have to give us a picture once it flowers. :)

Stargazer is looking amazing! I got to see her finished when I was up in NH and it made me think of your piece. I just love getting to bead a piece. I guess that's just cause it means your near the end. LOL :)
Funny! I seriously thought that was well you know and there I was sitting trying to figure out what did that! LOL Stargazer is looking wonderful with her bling!
thank god it's not the fruit. i was thinking it was. That would be a little much.
I love the garden poop humor! And some knowledge to boot! I hope to not experience this!
