How Terrible A Mom Would I Be?

I'm a real sucker for children's books. Always have been and I'm not sure why. When I was in university, I took a Children's Literature course and absolutely loved it. I had hoped to someday write my own children's book but that has yet to happen. Maybe one day ;o)

DH and I were in Chapters about a month ago when I spotted this new children's book on the shelf. I had to do a double take though because I wasn't sure I read the title correctly. Upon closer inspection, I was right in what I read and couldn't help chuckle. DH and I thought it was hilarious. So how bad a parent would I be if I added this to our child's library of books -

ROFL!!!! Yes, you read the title correctly ;o) The next time you're in the bookstore, I highly recommend you seek this book out. It's definitely worth a good laugh.

Yesterday DH and I went into the Big City for our check up appointment. It turns out everything is great! The baby's heartbeat is strong and my weight is what it should be. I guess I do have to get a Rubella vaccine after the baby is born though since I'm not immune to the virus. Oh yay...

We still can't get over the fact that I don't have much of a belly. We met the owner of a second hand maternity store and she could hardly believe that I was 19 weeks. I was even wearing my maternity clothes although I didn't really need to ;o) At this rate, I won't be wearing maternity clothes for very long.

Next week is 'the' ultrasound when we (hopefully) find out the sex of the baby. Let's just hope Peanut cooperates ;o)

Oh I've heard about this one! Not really for the kids, but more for the parents! And honestly, yes, there are nights you may feel like that - anyone that disagrees is probably not being completely honest!
Glad to read things are going well!

There is an audio book version from Audible.com where it's read by Samuel L. Jackson. Quite funny!

I think that book is just too funny.
And hey why not add it to the library, then you can teach your child early what satire is. :)

Love the title of that book - wish I had a £ for every time I've muttered that phrase under my breath!
With my first pregnancy I kept the maternity wear at bay until week 22 (but I did have an elastic band around the top of the zip on my jeans!). With my last pregnancy I was in the maternity jeans at week 8...oops!
Good luck with the scan, how lovely to see your baby again, and to find out blue or pink! X

Glad to hear the pregnancy is going well!

LOL @ the book. Now can you imagine little Peanut reciting the title of his/her latest favorite book at school?! Glad all is well with you and the wee one. Are you going to let us know the gender?

Don't worry, all the roundness could come at last month ;)
Waiting for the child's sex news :)

That book is going to mean so much more to you in a few months! Every word of it is true....you won't need it in book form :)

Good luck at the ultrasound!

Looks like that is a kids book that the parents will enjoy after reading it to the child 8,000,000 times.

You must make sure your baby l ibrary has all of the Caldecott winners . . those books are the BEST in Children's literature AND they are enjoyable to parents also.

This book made the morning news shows here in Oz. Lot of people bent out of shape, but really it is a laugh, and um... truthful :@

Fingers crossed that Peanut does co-operate with scan.

LiBBiE in Oz
PS Elizabeth is still such a good name for a girl peanut.

Better look for the book when I'm next in the bookstore, my daughter might be getting an extra gift in her Christmas stocking!

I was in Chapters in Ottawa yesterday and spotted the same book. I did a doubletake too! Too funny! Seems to me that by the time number three rolled around, that thought crept in on a few occasions, lol!!
Glad to hear that things are going well. That little belly of yours might pop in time, usually the last month.

Definitely watch the youtube with Jackson. His voice is perfect for that book.

The generation your baby is in will grow up thinking that book is their classic, of course you have to have it!

I listen to talk radio during my commute and one day earlier this year they were interviewing the author. As soon as I got home, I just *had* to order it for my brother and SIL to give to them this Christmas. It is pretty hilarious :)
