Third Finish For 2012

Again, I've been holding out on you in the stitching department. January and part of February proved to be very productive months :o) I didn't plan on stitching this piece as stash buying is very limited now but when I saw Ranae's finish on her Blog, I inquired if she wanted to do a trade. Thankfully she accepted!

As soon as this chart came out, I was on the bandwagon. Here is Sergei by Plum Street Samplers -

I just LOVE this piece!!!! LOVE! I had so much joy stitching him and I was sorry to see the end :o(

I went out on a limb with Sergei and stitched him on 36 count Light Exampler Linen by Lakeside Linens. This was my first time on such a high count but do you know what? I LOVED IT! I used all the recommended fibers except one that I substituted for DMC and I stitched one over two.

I've had such a hard time getting a good picture of him. Eventually, he will be framed :o)

Now I'm determined that I want to stitch Boris! Is there anyone out there that would like to do an exchange - my Sergei for your Boris? I'd rather deal with someone that I know because back in December I got burnt in an exchange with someone I 'thought' was known well enough in the Blogging community :o( I will not reveal a name. Needless to say, they got their end of the agreement but mine has not appeared and she will not answer my emails. If there is an interested party, please feel free to email me :o) Thanks!

  2. Sergei is so cute...I like him every time I see him. Watch out...higher count linen and being to stitch with on thread can be addictive!

Hope you are feeling well. Getting close now.

  3. Oh wow what a fantastic finish. I do hope someone reliable is able to swap with you.

It's sad when other stitchers take advantage of a person like that...

    Take Care :)

  4. Lovely finish! It will look darling framed. Good luck finding a trading partner - I've been real lucky with trades I've done. What a shame you were burnt in your trade. Most stitchers are great to deal with but I've run into my share of issues with round robins and exchanges....which is why I don't do many any more. Sometimes people just don't care as much as you do about something.

  13. I love that design and you did a beautiful job on it. I like stitching on 36 ct over two... get more detail in smaller space.

Sorry I can't help with the chart, but I hope you get someone to trade with that lives up to the bargain!

I'm so sorry you got burnt on your previous exchange. I can't believe the nerve of some people!
I'm not ready to stitch my copy of Boris yet but I could lend you the chart in the meantime if you want. Let me know if you want to go ahead.

  16. What a handsome guy, Sergei is, Cathey--glad you enjoyed stitching him so much!

That is awful that an exchange in December left you empty-handed! It sounds like you have several offers to lend you Boris--I can't wait to see him :)

  17. Wow, your Sergei is so cute! And I love stitching at 36count linen (40 count is good too, but 36 is better :) )

  19. Super finish, he looks lovely.
I hope you manage to get n exchange, always a shame when people don't fulfil their side of a swap.
You'll be using higher counts more I bet, they're addictive, I recently tried my first piece of 40 ct and loved it.

  24. Beautiful stitching :)
I follow Paulettes' blog but I've never stitch any PSS design.
What do you mean by stitching 1 over 2? Is that stitching with one thread over 2ct of fabric?
Oh! I didn't know that! Sorry to hear about you 'bad' exchange =/ I hope it won't happen again!!

  28. Sergei is a handsome fellow and you did very well on 36ct.
I love the higher count linen, enjoying it before it gets too hard in my old age, lol
I don't have Boris, but I do have the cat.
Hope you find a reliable swapper

  31. I love stitching on higher count linen too because I always love using one ply of thread. Your Sergei is gorgeous!
I'm so sorry you got burnt on your previous exchange. I hope it won't happen again and you will get your Boris soon.

  32. So lovely!!!
I wish I had the other pattern to trade with you cuz you know I would send it to you in a hot second. :)

  33. Lovely finish darling!! I love PSS!! All of her designs are brilliant! Unfortunately, I don't have Boris...or many charts for that matter to trade you. I hope someone can trade you! Sorry to hear you got burned. I think that's atrocious behaviour of someone to not even respond and give a reason as to why you didn't receive the exchange. It's too bad people like that exist, even here in stitching land!

  34. Hi

Sergei is brilliant! Congrats on a great finish! v
