Sixteenth Finish For 2011

I just LOVE the Zipper Kits that Bent Creek makes. They are so much fun to stitch and it's nice having everything together so you don't have to go hunting high and low for fabric and threads ;o) LOL!

This is Snowman Flatbed -

Isn't he cute? I have to say that I was a little disappointed with this kit though because the WDW pearl cottons that were included were sparse! I 'just' had enough thread to stitch the hat but had to make an adjustment to the flag in order to get it in there :o(

I plan on stitching this pattern again but on 32 count (this one was done on 18 count) and with different accent colors. It will be interesting to see the difference in size and look :o)

As this is ornament size, it allowed me to achieve one of my 2011 goals! All I have left is one medium size piece (WIP) and Christmas Rules and I'll have wrapped up those goals with a nice red bow for the holidays ;o) I'm pretty positive that I can do it.

Back during Thanksgiving, my MIL gave me an African Violet. I have NEVER had any luck with these plants but surprisingly, this one must like me -

Or maybe it's the environment it's in ;o) LOL!

I'm not sure how much I'll be around for the next week. My parents are coming on Wednesday and are staying until the weekend. They want to be at the ultrasound on Thursday. Don't worry, I'll post any news as soon as I can ;o) Thanks everyone!

  3. That flatbed series is just the cutest. I love every one of them. Yours looks so perfect!

And yea for your green thumb! African violets are very picky about which owners they like.

  4. Cute finish!
I've been cleaning out my stash room and found three of the BC zipper kits in a drawer. I'd forgot all about them!
I don't have any luck with African violets either but my Mom has a sunroom full of them.

What an adorable finish! I love it!

    Congrats on reaching your goal.

That African Violet is very happy. Such pretty flowers.

  6. Hi Pumpkin,
Nice stitching. Shame for the scarcity of the floss though. You would think they would give you too much in case the frogs come to visit. Your Violet is pretty. You may want to invest in a pot specific for African Violets. It keeps them from getting too much water which is bad for them. It is a two piece pot and the water goes into the bottom of it and then it soaks up the water as needed. Good Luck for finishing your goals! Looking forward to seeing them finished.

Beautiful African violet! I usually don't have very good luck with them either. My late grandmother had quite the green thumb for them.

  13. Cute little ornament. Love the colors.
I find that if I find the right light for an African violet they tend to do well with or without our neglect lol
    Good luck with the ultrasound!

  14. He's cute! Good luck with the rest of your 2011 stitching. I wish I could be organized where my stitching is concerned: I'm more of a fly by the seat of my pants stitcher!

  18. Awww, I loves his nose! What a cute finish. As much as we pay for those Bent Creek kits you'd think they wouldn't skimp on stuff!

Nice looking violet! I've never had any luck with them. Maybe it's all those PG vibes in your house?

Enjoy visiting with your parents! Are they over the moon or what?

  27. Super cute finish!!
That's weird about the thread. I've never had that problem with those kits before. I hope they aren't skimping on them now. :(
I'm not a plant pro by any means but I actually do well with African violets so long as they have lots and lots of sun. I even get mine to bloom a few times a year! (I do fertilize it a bit during the summer months.)
