A Thursday Thought

Did you know that...

...lobsters have no vocal cords therefore they do not scream when cooked?

...the heart of a blue whale is the size of a small car?

...an elephant's trunk has over 100,000 muscles in it?

...bison are able to run up to 55 Kms per hour?

Okay, the title should have read 'Thursday Thoughts' ;o)

  3. Oh, I have one! Did you know that Betta fish have to breathe air? They have an organ called a labyrinth that works like a lung. (I have two bettas.) :)

  4. That lobster comment is making me feel wonky about cooking them. I mean is that why we boil them? Because we think they feel no pain. No screams - no pain?!?!

I'll be rethinking my next meal at Red Lobster.

Please tell DH happy birthday! Is he yet 35? Are you doing anything special for his day?

  5. I am still going to eat lobster, whether they scream of not. However, I will stay far away from bisons. One more fact for you is that alligators can run at a speed of 35 m.p.h. That was why I stayed away from them in Florida.

  7. Cathey,
I knew about the Lobster because we steamed some last summer in Maine. I wasn't aware of the other things. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Thanks for all the facts. I love learning stuff like this, but whether I remember it is another story. I will remember about the lobster because I always thought they screamed.
